So here we are, already season seven. Sadly it’s the last season that we are going to see Mulder around for the whole season, whereas season eight will be basically Agent John Doggett and luckily at least Scully. But back to season seven now, and its best episodes.

Amor Fati, also known as The Sixth Extinction Part II, is a very important episode in terms of the main story arc of the X Files, and more importantly Mulder himself. It’s one of those episodes that reveals a lot of things, a lot of cruicial things, but in doing so, it adds even more mysteries and unanswered questions. Just great, this is how X Files should be.

Closure is the second part of a story which begun with a little girl disappearing mysteriously from her parent’s home. During the course of the investigations Mulder and Scully find a mass murderer who has killed many children and buried them in his own backyard. Closure itself deals more with Mulder’s sister, Samantha, who it turns out had disappeared just like the little girl. In this episode we find out what really happened with Samantha, and the search for her comes to an end.
By far one of the sadest episodes of X Files, and you just feel sorry for Mulder, for all the things that he has been through recently. A very tearjerking end to Samantha’s search.

En Ami is an episode in which we see Scully being used by the Cigarette Smoking Man, also known as the Cancer Man. CGB promises Scully a cure for cancer, so that he would go into the history as a respected man. But it’s more than just a cure for the cancer, it’s cure for virtually every disease there is. And of course CGB wouldn’t be CGB if he didn’t have something planned behind Scully’s back.

Requiem is the finale of season seven. Mulder and Scully go to investigate an UFO crash in a small village, and find more than they bargained for. We also see the return of Krycek who is released from a prison, where CGB let him rot as Krycek put it. Not only that, but CGB wants to rebuild the project and has asked for Krycek’s help. But just like CGB, Krycek always has his own plans, and things quickly turn sour between him and CGB. At the end of the episode Mulder is beamed aboard the alien ship right in front of AD Skinner’s face.
You’ll notice that I haven’t picked any of the funny episodes of the season, and there have been quite a few. The Goldberg Variation, The Amazing Maleeni, X-Cops, Hollywood A.D. and Fight Club. I just didn’t think that they were as good as the other funny episodes from other seasons, or even anywhere near as good as the above outlined episodes.
